Calme has carved out a distinct position in Pakistan's feature phone market: it's the brand that took keypad phones into the 4G era. While most rivals still sell mainly 2G models, the majority of Calme's lineup supports 4G — which means WhatsApp, hotspot tethering, and basic internet on a button phone.

Prices range from around Rs. 2,300 for basic 2G models up to about Rs. 11,500 for the top 4G handsets.

Calme's Key Advantage: 4G on a Keypad Phone

If you want a simple button phone that can still handle WhatsApp, Calme is the most obvious brand to look at in Pakistan. Its 4G models support WhatsApp, hotspot tethering, and light browsing — capability most feature phones simply don't offer.

Several models also include a signal booster, which is genuinely useful in rural areas, villages, and anywhere with weak coverage. The Calme 4G Shine was marketed as Pakistan's first 4G keypad phone with this feature.

Some models have also moved to modern hardware — the Calme 4G Guru carries a large 3,200mAh battery, a 2.4-inch display, and USB Type-C charging, which is rare on a feature phone.

Important: Check VoLTE Before Buying a 4G Model

This is the most common problem buyers hit, and it's worth understanding before you pay.

4G keypad phones need VoLTE enabled on your SIM to make calls over 4G. Some operators still restrict VoLTE on certain prepaid connections or in specific areas. Confirm with your network before buying, otherwise you may end up with a 4G phone that can't use 4G for calls.

Also worth knowing: 3G coverage is shrinking. Jazz and Zong have already decommissioned 3G in several districts across Balochistan and southern Sindh. If you're choosing between models, avoid anything 3G-only — go either 2G (for maximum battery life) or 4G (for internet capability).

4G or 2G — Which Calme Should You Buy?

Choose a 4G model if you want WhatsApp, hotspot tethering, or you live somewhere with weak signal and would benefit from a signal booster. Expect to charge it every few days rather than weekly.

Choose a 2G model if battery life and price matter most. A basic Calme at Rs. 2,300–3,400 will run far longer between charges and handles calls and SMS perfectly.

One myth to clear up: no keypad phone in Pakistan supports native video calling, including 4G models. WhatsApp messaging works on supported 4G models, but video calling does not.

What to Check Before Buying

Verify PTA approval. Dial *#06# for the IMEI and check it on the PTA DIRBS portal before paying.

Confirm WhatsApp support for the specific model. Not every 4G Calme handset runs it — ask the seller to demonstrate it live rather than taking the claim at face value.

Ask about the battery. Check the mAh figure and whether it's user-replaceable. Feature phone batteries typically need replacing after around two years, and a replacement costs roughly Rs. 300–600 — much cheaper than replacing the phone.
