Important: Don't Assume a Higher Price Means a Better Battery

This is the single most useful thing to know before buying an E-Tachi phone, and it applies across the whole feature phone market.

The E-Tachi Magic E4, priced around Rs. 3,849, uses a non-replaceable 600mAh battery. Meanwhile, cheaper phones from other brands at around Rs. 2,999 offer 1,200mAh user-replaceable batteries — double the capacity for less money.

So always check two things before paying:

• Actual battery capacity in mAh — not the model name or price

• Whether the battery is replaceable — a removable battery means you can swap it in a few years instead of replacing the whole phone

Two Things E-Tachi Names Don't Tell You

Model names sound like smartphones, but these are keypad phones. Names like "i17 Pro Max," "iPro Ultra," and "Reno Plus" borrow styling from smartphone branding. They're still button phones — check the actual specifications rather than assuming from the name.

No keypad phone in Pakistan supports video calling. This applies to every brand, including 4G models. Feature phones handle voice calls and SMS only. If a seller claims video calling, ask for a live demonstration before paying.

What to Check Before Buying

Verify PTA status. Most E-Tachi phones sold through proper retailers are PTA approved, but always confirm. Dial *#06# for the IMEI and check it on the PTA DIRBS portal.

PTA approval isn't the same as future-proofing. PTA certifies device safety and spectrum compliance — it doesn't guarantee the phone will work with future network changes. Older approved models may lack the bands needed as networks upgrade.

Confirm the network type. Most budget E-Tachi models are 2G only. That's fine for calls and SMS, but there's no internet or WhatsApp.

Buy from a trusted seller. Look for factory-sealed units with official brand warranty. Repackaged phones are a real risk in local markets, and warranty claims are difficult without a proper receipt.
